Take a tour and step back in time inside the beautiful Marlsgate Mansion. Marlsgate faces Bearskin Lake, one of the many small lakes formed by the changing course of the nearby Arkansas River. Marlsgate was designed by noted Arkansas architect Charles L. Thompson and was completed in 1904. Together, the house and outbuildings represent life in the mid-South during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Originally the Dortch family farm, the stately Greek Revival structure is open for group tours and special events; features front porch Ionic columns over 40 feet tall and huge pecan trees that dot the lawn. The home has over 30 antique-filled rooms and is open for weddings, receptions, tour groups and special events. Complete catering needs met on-site in a Southern plantation atmosphere with beautiful flowers. Options available range from hors d’oeuvres to full meals showcasing Southern cuisine.
